The 2012 European World Travel Awards Ceremony distinguished Ria Park Hotel & Spa, Portugal and the Algarve with prestigious awards.

Ria Park Hotel & Spa won now its first award - Portugal’s Leading Conference Hotel - recognising the hotel’s unmatched facilities for Conference, Meetings, Presentations and Incentives of any size, from private board meetings to large-scale international events and its ceaseless quest on repeatedly fulfilling the needs and desires of the most discerning guests. Ria Park Hotel & Spa was also nominated in 2 more categories: Europe’s Leading Conference & Meetings Resort and Portugal’s Leading Hotel.

In this year’s ceremony, hosted at the Quinta do Lago, Portugal shined with the winning of the award Europe’s Leading Golf Destination, whilst the Algarve by itself won the accolade of Europe’s Leading Beach Destination.

The World Travel Awards are regarded as the very highest achievement in the tourism industry, with votes being cast by 217,000 travel professionals in over 160 countries across the globe. Hailed as the ‘Oscars of the travel industry' by the global media, highlights and rewards those travel brands that have made the greatest contribution to the industry over the past year.

The Ria Park Hotel & Spa is the Official Hotel of the Rugby Tournament, Algarve Sevens, which will be held at the Algarve Stadium on the 20th and 21st of July. This tournament will feature some of the best national teams in the variant of Rugby Sevens.

It was with honor and pride that the Ria Park Hotel & Spa received the news of the nomination to the categories "Europe's Leading Conference Resort", "Portugal's Leading Conference Hotel" and "Portugal's Leading Hotel" of the prestigious awards - "World Travel Awards 2012"!

Algarve’s sunny beaches and beautiful landscapes made this a pleasant event where innovative techniques along with new findings in the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular disorders were discussed.

The 2011 World Muscle Society’s Annual International Congress, which included participants from over 25 countries, of every continent, was undoubtedly a success due greatly to the picturesque surroundings and high standards of service of the Ria Park Hotels.

Delegates enjoyed days of productive forums discussing pertinent topics, breathtaking views over the Ria Formosa Natural Park and social activities to experience both the local cuisine and customs. Some attendees took advantage of the weather to wander the nearby Ria Formosa Natural Reserve and photograph species of migrant birds.

When selecting the Ria Park Hotel & Spa and the Ria Park Garden Hotel for this 5 day event, the Portuguese Committee of the Society wish to show fellow members not only one of the most beautiful regions that Portugal has to offer, the Algarve, but a hotel that embodied the Portuguese’s hospitable nature. This contributed positively to Portugal´s promotion throughout the world as a popular holiday destination.

The Algarve region was once again honoured by the Irish, this year winning the Best Sun Destination award, on the 27th of January, at the 19th anual Irish travel Industry Awards, held at the Westin Hotel, in Dublin.
